Antique Nuno

I have been collecting old lace for years now, and I'm glad I did. This scarf I call "Antique" for just that reason.

Some of the lace I used was hand dyed

Black scrim provides a dramatic base.

The bits of old lace and the velvet that I dyed in deep jewel tones,
lend that rich antique look.

  5. Lovely piece. How oh how do you get that velvet to 'grab" to your background fabric? I have tried many times but it peels right off when the garment is dry. Could it be that you use a silk velvet? Is there such a thing as silk velvet? Help please!!!

  6. The velvet strips are silk/rayon. I veiled the edges so lightly, which helps and then lots of rolling, then lots more rolling, using cold water and you get thicker cloth to stick.
